Tampa, FL WOC Thank You Letter

A great deal goes into any ball game, but it is the final score that goes into the record book. On the Tampa Weekend of Champions, 697 first time decision of Jesus Christ and 893 prayers of rededication and assurance, a total of 1590 victories, were added to the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Weekend Director, Jack Murphy reports:

“Saturday at the Hernando Co. Jail women’s unit was awesome! Inside, in a cramped dining hall, day room setup, they brought 20 federal prisoners to join the 200 other inmates. Nancy Johnson, Tanya Crevier, and Stephanie Miller blew them away at the morning program. After lunch, Larry Rowe and Sandi Fatow scraped up what was left. The teammates loved it. “

Tampa team coach Paul Riddell and a few Local Teammates worked for months trying to get ready. Their responsibilities started with many meetings to put together the committees: prayer, welcome, transportation, banquet, recruiting, hospitality, and finance. Then, they found the hotel and church for training and the banquet. Paul did too much of the work alone. Next time he must have more help!

While the Tampa team was busy, in our Dallas office the CFL staff were communicating with prison and jail officials, printing and shipping CFL materials, loading our van with tons of sound systems, evangelism materials, cross awards, containers of attire, CD’s, and books. It’s like the circus coming to town, except that we are on a much more eternal and serious mission. Sorry we forgot the award pins, but we’ll award them on the next Weekend of Champions.

This is just a glance at producing a Champions event. People who become involved behind the scene always exclaim, “I had no idea what all went into putting one of these events together!”

Thanks to Pastor A.C. Bryant who opened the doors to Trinity United Methodist Church for our freshman training, spiritual enrichment, and fellowship banquet.

It is always an honor working with the Florida Department of Corrections (this event at Sumter, Zephyrhills, and Hernando CI’s). The Corrections Corporation of America (Hernando Co Jail), and Jan Bates and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Jail staff who always go far beyond the call of duty to accommodate our programs.

I want to personally thank you, and the many other Teammates, for saying, “Send me, Lord.” You are a very special breed of Christians. Thank you for making Champions for Life your ministry. I deem it my extreme honor to work with you in the Lord’s Harvest.

In closing, let me ask you to please help us fund more of these events by joining our First Team. We need your financial help. Some might only be able to give $20.00 each month, some can give much more. Whatever you can afford, please help. Thank you!

In Him as Always with Love,
