The MURPHY REPORT – Another HUGE HAUL – PTL
In 1996, Bill Glass began an annual Champions Event in the Orlando Orange Co. Jail. With Central Florida Reception Center and other area jails and prisons, this has become a model annual Champions activity. The local Bill Glass Champions Committee has taken ownership and makes this event flow smoothly and successfully every year.

We recorded 635 first time decisions for Jesus Christ on this Day of Champions! Another 760 Rededications and prayers for Assurance brought the total to 1395 personal commitments for a closer relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.
When Christians are asked, “Do you know for Certain that you will spend Eternity in Heaven?” the most common answer is “I hope so”. That’s why we address these concerns and try to present the scriptures that assure and affirm Salvation for Eternity.
In Florida, there is such a growing Army of young Soul-winners. They are easy to identify because they come from the Swamp, wear Orange and Blue, and it says GATORS on their shirts and hats. That’s right; they come from Tim Tebow country where the National Basketball and Football Championship trophies are shiny and new. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you do not have a TV, have never read a Sports page, or live under a rock.
Here’s a report from one of those Front-line GATOR Champions. Gary Guillet is 27 and is a member of the Gator Christian Life at University of Florida. Gary invited Christ into his life October 4, 2000. He has attended 4 Bill Glass Champions Events.
"Men and women came to know their Lord and Savior in Orlando. I was trying to think of ways to explain how the Orlando Day of Champions event went but in the end that is the only standard which I can think to use. Though trying to make our way through the 6 story, labyrinthine complex was a success in itself. There were other great aspects of the event like how I was blessed to talk with other men about God, being personally encouraged by hearing the speakers talk about how the glory of God was shown in their lives, and being able to serve along side brothers and sisters who I worship beside in church but above all these great things God simply chose to use us to spread the knowledge of the joy of living for Him. That statement only becomes more amazing when lives are being radically changed forever.
As a student at the University of Florida, Bill Glass Champions for Life opens up doors for me to serve God by spreading His word that I probably would not have otherwise taken advantage of. It has allowed me an avenue to share the gospel which has blessed me and challenged me to see the growth of the Kingdom in a new way beyond the confines of our campus."

Many thanks to the great Team of Coordinators led by Paul Flory and Paul Riddell at the jail. And the many thanks to the great Teammates, Bikers, Speakers, Transportation team, and everyone who works so faithfully to make these Florida Champions Events a joy and an honor to be part of.

“In the women’s unit, God’s presence was felt in the midst of an awesome group of teammates and among the inmates. We came; God provided the results through the speakers, sharing time, and work of the Holy Spirit.

“With 5 great Teammates and Karate Master John Wilcox as the Guest Speaker in 4 program areas in the Horizon Building, the fields were ripe unto harvest with many decisions during the short time allotted. One 2nd time Teammate informed me today that he stayed awake for several hours on Saturday evening with excitement over the opportunities of the day. He indicated he was awed with the ministry and has shared his enthusiasm with everyone he meets, will recruit for the next year, and is pleased to support the ministry financially. It was a Spirit filled opportunity.
