Birmingham, AL DOC Thank You Letter

It seems as though some things are just going to be fought over and the jails in Birmingham are certainly in that category.  Storms tore up Atlanta, GA and affected our leaders and platform guest arrival time on Saturday.  The same storms in Birmingham, AL woke up everyone on Friday night so that there was very little rest the night before.  The devil really tried to roar and consume!  But…the night before and all through the entire DOC in the Birmingham City Jail and Jefferson County Jail, the Holy Spirit had us covered!

You could tell HE was there on Friday night as over 125 Teammates and bikers from seven different states came together to worship Him and receive training.  It was one of those Spiritual Enrichments that make it a special night to prepare for the battles to come the next day.
 
Pastor Blake Lindsey brought a message from God about making a difference in the entire area; not only with the mission into the jails but also into the schools in a few weeks as well, with Mike McCoy and Champions for Today (which is our school outreach).  Jack Baker gave us all a briefing on how the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Champions for Today are working together in Alabama.
 
Brian Bardwell the head coach in Birmingham has really put together a great team.  They are taking the momentum from this Day of Champions where there were 506 decisions out of 1,300 inmates and beginning to plan for other Days and Weekends in the future.  If you would like to be a part of a local team please contact Champions For Life at:  (972) 298-1101

It is the local team working together with officials from Jefferson County and Birmingham City that made this a very special event.  Ms. Davis and the staff in the city jail took care of us while we were there like we are their personal family.  Sergeant Fitts is just one great example of the leadership in the Jefferson County jail…he went out of his way along with the other leaders in the jail to make everything work seamlessly.  With their cooperation, we had two bikes on every floor.
